Bowler, proprietor, coach and inventor, Charles Francis "Ace" Mitchell first started in the bowling
business at his father's two-lane center in Uhrichsville, Ohio. Ace moved to Akron in 1926 and operated
centers throughout the city before opening Ace Mitchell Bowlers Mart in 1959.
One of Ace's greatest contributions to bowling was the invention of Shur-Hook finger and thumb
inserts. As one of the first and best selling bowling accessories ever produced, Ace's invention helped
create an entire new industry of bowling accessories.

Ace retired in 1973 and sold the Bowlers Mart to his son-in-law, Dave Grau. Dave transformed the business
into a wholesale supplier and now services hundreds of centers throughout in the U.S. and abroad. Since
then, Ace Mitchell Bowlers Mart has extended its reach throughout the bowling world, making it the One
Source for all your bowling needs.
